A friend and I have had this on-going joke where we try to make meaningless conversation with each other for as long as possible, for example:
“Otherwise”
“No, good. You?”
“Ah, you know how it goes”
“Yup, you’ve just got to grab it with both hands”
“Work?”
“Always looking up, hey”…
and so on and so on.
Quietly standing in the lift today with another tenant in our building, I was itching to say “You guys must be busy this time of year, eh?” Not two seconds later did this guy say the exact same thing to me.
Did I channel it into his head, or are the meaningless and funny conversational pieces that my friend and I perform what ordinary folk actually talk about?

It’s based on a theory (mathematical and psycological) called ‘seriality’. I’m serious.
Both Jung and Kammerer explored it. In fact, it’s in effect right now, as I read up on it earlier, and now I read your post.
Spooky.
