I'm still fumbling my way through some of SA's most renowned blogs, trying to find one which is of genuine interest and/or inspiration to me. Perhaps it was just bad timing that i was forced (RSS) into this jo'blog vs 2oceans debarkle, but i feel i must just say one thing. If this is the kind of material that future/potential bloggers are exposed to - then this community will never become the revolutionary force that so many of it's members believe it will do. It will simply fade and die. Coudos and props to cherryflava for steering well clear of this mess. Were they the only blokes who didn't have their say? We should all just close the book.

A lot of the blogs that competed aren’t even as old as 2Oceans Vibe. My money says that syndication is likely to drive up the figures for these site sa lot more and 2Oceans won’t repeat its fortune next year.

If it is nominated, which I’ll oppose. Yes, it is a ‘journal’, but the definition of a blog has evolved a bit since then. As I said in anotehr comment, the car of the year these days should at least have power steering and wipers. You can have a car without those, but it would never win. It shouldn’t even qualify.

It’s good that they won, but this issue needs to be adressed. 2Oceans is busy splitting hairs – they are actively trying to convince us that pretty much any site on the web can qualify as a blog. In that case we should allow forum boards to also participate, because they are essentially multi-user blogs.

Get permalinks, RSS, comments – something! Anything that makes 2Oceans seem like more than an HTML file with dates.
