The colourful world of straight men

I just read Thea’s post about the Women in IT site/launch, and looking at the logo, couldn’t help wondering if there’s some carved-in-stone design law that says, “If it’s for chicks – use pink!”
Pink’s a great colour, and I wont argue that it’s feminine, but shit ladies, don’t you ever get bored of the constant stereotyping? What would have happened if the woman in IT logo was grey or even blue? Would that be a turn-off? I’m guessing it wouldn’t.
Oh, and you’re getting a raw deal to boot, lets face it, as a gender you get one bloody colour and now you have to share it with the world’s gay population too…!
Ps. While you’re at it, take a look at the site itself, I also find it pretty funny that it’s all the same old stock pics of hot woman laughing/smiling seductively. Shit, if this is how woman represent themselves, they really need to stop complaining about being treated as objects.

Two weeks ago I was asked to do a feedback form for a seminar. I did it – made it blue and personally I thought it was great. The chick didn’t like it – “something wasn’t right with the designâ€. I changed ONLY the main colour from blue to shocking pink – suddenly it’s “brilliant†and she “loves the new layoutâ€. Like moths to a flame!
