Why the record companies are in shit

So I just got a friendly phone call from EMI asking me to remove the link to a Michael Naiker file I posted a while back, I obliged.
The record company explained that this material was under copyright. Fair enough, but shit, get a clue, it’s on the internet now, all we did was link to it, we didn’t host it.
Far better would have been to ask us to keep the link live, and to add a line saying “for more Michael Naiker, call 555-MIKE” that way it’s a promo, and positive. Now I’m just irritated.
Sadly, people just don’t get the value of blog promotion yet…!

Technically, the morons should then also phone up our friends at Google, and tell them to stop linking to everything that’s copyrighted!
Haha, ignorance will be the downfall of the stupid…

They also don’t seem to get that most people here receive a latest Michael Naicker file on email. At least once a week.
Who’d think they’d hate free advertising on a blog?
