Serving and protecting themselves

I picked up on two stories today that I could only laugh at.
The first is that the Ehlanzeni traffic chief, Charles Mdhluli, and his wife have been arrested for stealing R22m (subtle!). Here’s the kicker though, they have been released on R5000 bail each. Haha, if I was them I’d cut my losses, take the R21 990 000.00, and run.
The second is the story of a senior City of Cape Town copper that’s been given a desk job after being busted driving patrol cars for 13 years… without a license.
He had an excuse though (I fucking love this):
| …he apparently told police that while aboard a police helicopter during a manhunt for crime suspects, his driver’s licence might have fallen out of his trouser pocket. |
Rumour has it he’s going to assist the Mdhluli family as a getaway driver…!

“My license might have fallen out of my pocket whilst flying a helicopter??”
Oh my fuck, now I’ve heard everything.

I wish my sense of humour still allowed me to laugh at these things.
I did however laugh at Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka who, when in response to her “overseas family holiday to the United Arab Emirates via private use of an SA Air Force Falcon 900 which cost taxpayers an estimated R700 000″ said that she did some work over there!
Milkshakes for the whole family with that?

I caught a brilliant soundbite last night on the news when she said she chose Saudi because they have “meeeny cranes in the country”. We of course dont have any…..been to margate lately Deputy President Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka? Its a town in South Africa where many mere locals holiday, its got “meeny” cranes as well.

I’m chewing my knuckes, hoping that my faith in this country’s drowning justice system will be be roughly toweled dry with a nice, staunch conviction or three.
But I’m not holding my breath.
