“In-fucking-sane”
Posted by Don Packett under Uncategorized on June 22 2006 at 11:20 AMThat’s the exact thing Rich…! sms’d me at 00:15 after the Pretoria Lagwagon gig. Now, for Rich…! to say something like that about a gig (he can be fussy) is saying a lot. I, on the other hand, still needed to see it for myself. And I did.
Last night: In-fucking-sane!
We caught the second half of F…Etc which I knew would rock anyway (old Shifty days), and they didn’t let me down. Fuzigish, aaah, Fuzi. Now, I’ll admit, I’m an Old School Fuzi Fan, but their new stuff is the business! Skanked it up ska-style for half of their set, ‘cos I was preparing and saving myself for Lagwagon. Got hit in the nuts twice (once with a head, the other with a shoulder) and fell once. Killer set, short, but killer. I asked J-Bones about it and he said it was cos it was a big line-up. I still think fuck it, let’s jam till the wee hours of the morning people!
Then,

They kicked so much ass. I’m struggling to put into words the feeling I felt when they started with Never Stops, off Fat 6, an amazing track, and then the all-time crowd favourite, May 16. You have to understand something, my first ever video that I edited (my 21st birthday party) was to this track, now I do video for a living. This shit rocks!
During their set I fell twice, once on my (already-on-it’s-last-legs) back, got hit in the nuts, again, and jumped and screamed and spun around like a top, it was awesome. One thing that surprised me though was the lack of jumping in the air, I think I might’ve seen one other guy, all the other air-jumps in the pit were courtesy of yours truly. Guess I’m just old school… Or blind…
A big thanks to Rich…! and Missing Link for getting me a ticket, real pity you couldn’t have been there, I promise you were there in spirit, I went apeshit for the both of us! Also to Jase and Rob, my pit crew, man we went off!
Today, I hurt.
So punk rock.

Well if I had been in the pit, i woulda been jumping about as well, but i am more old than old school and thus was content to watch from the elevated sides! Besides, in my advanced years, moshing with the lighties just seems like bullying really! hehehehe!

Hahaha Dave…let’s be honest here.
You and I both know that the reason why us “oldies” don’t go in the pit is cause we know we’re going to get the shit kicked out of us, hahaha

On three particular occasions I felt more violated than bullied really…
Think I need a trade-in on my body…

Absolutely wicked. Lagwagon however becomes another class act that I missed out on being in Badgag. War is hell! I must admit though. Im with the Rev. on this one. Way too old for that shit. My bones ache just thinking about it…

[...] Don and Rich…! over at Jo’blog deliver a perfervid report on Lagwagon’s performance up in Pretoria recently. And Don’s nuts. They swear quite a bit, too. (Don and Rich…!, that is. The nuts are relatively well behaved.) Posted by barbedwire Filed in music, Bands, gigs / events, gauteng, Music Blogs [...]
