Punk Rock: Then and now…
Posted by Rich...! under Uncategorized on August 28 2006 at 12:10 PMLast Friday Don and I headed off to a night of punk rock pleasure at the Blues Room in Village Walk (go figure). This wasn’t just any old gig though, but more of a tribute to the bands that kicked off the scene here years ago, bands like Leek and the Bouncing Uptones, Fuzigish, and the Vendettas.
We missed the first band, but were in time for a rocking Slashdogs set. If you’ve not seen these guys, you just gotta. Even if you’re not a Rock n Roll fan as such, there’s just so much energy and show that you can’t help but love these guys.
Then the walk down memory lane began…
The crowd:
Then:

Now:

Same Trevor. Different finger.
Leek and the Bouncing Uptones:
Then:

Now:

Aw man, what a show. It was so good seeing these guys again, man alive they rocked the house, even if some of the members do have less hair. I hit the crowd running and bumped into some guy in the pit, he got upset with me cos he spilled his beer. In the fucking pit! What’s the world coming to?
Then (so it begins):

Now:

Shit, what can I say about these guys, if you haven’t seen em, you haven’t lived. I cant experience a Fuzi set without a grin on my face for the duration, it’s just the perfect mix of fun, energy, great tunes and great pit. Ampie’s a rad addition to the band, sadly Lord Zoltan’s missing, presumed eaten.
We missed The Vendettas but we saw them the week before and they rocked as always. Punk rock’s not just for punks anymore. Get to a gig, you’ll love it.
See you in the pit…!
