We. Are. So. Flattered.
Posted by Rich...! under Uncategorized on August 29 2006 at 9:58 AMWow, how times have changed. Just over a year ago we were all but unknown to the loyal followers of 2oceansvibe. Now it seems they’re regular readers.
Since last night at 17h40, when we posted our Coverboys parody, 2oceansvibe readers have been “…bombarding [Seth Rotherham] with requests to stand up and say something.”
I’m blushing here, I had no idea we had so many (both) of Seth’s readers visiting our humble site. I guess there’s only so much a person needs to know about Christina Aguilera and Paris Hilton.
What is strange is the comparison he makes between us and the now legendary British kids’ show “The Wombles”. Don’t get me wrong, we’re flattered that he sees us as so popular, but it does say a lot about his television viewing habits that this is the comparison he made. I guess between Camparis and Savannas he needs to draw inspiration from somewhere – which, unsurprisingly is also apparent in his writing style.
The Gareth Cliff barb was a low blow though, how can he be so hurtful? Alas it seems he just doesn’t like the competition (but lets face it, looking at the pic below, there’s no way we can really compete).

(Caption contest, prizes on offer, leave your submission in the comments)
In closing, we would like to compliment Seth on his now improved site design, don’t get me wrong, it’s still the same old shitty blue wash out, but now with nicer pictures picture. Sadly the look of our site has gone down a bit in recent posts post.
Thanks for the mention bro, we find it really cute that the little people haven’t forgotten us, what, between our numerous television appearances and speaking gigs.
I’ll be back later, I’m just off to compare Technorati rankings…!
Update: This pic rocks, so we’ve turned it into a caption contest for you, we’ll have prizes.

Who the hell is Gareth Cliff? And is he really that hot? Can’t be.
August 29th, 2006 at 11:40 am
What did Gareth Cliff say?
August 29th, 2006 at 11:42 am
Why is seth shakin Gary Busey’s hand? Actually since when does gary Busey do body building? Is Gary Busey still alive?
August 29th, 2006 at 11:45 am
Ha ha ahahahaha… Gary Busey. Funny guy.
That photo is so dodge.
August 29th, 2006 at 12:45 pm
Christ. Did you guys have to study to be so not funny?
August 29th, 2006 at 12:58 pm
Seth: I finally met my real dad!
Gary Busey: Listen, you weird little creep, if you don’t stop touching me…
Hot bird: Moer hom, Gary. Moer hom!
August 29th, 2006 at 1:05 pm
Seth: Touching Gary makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
Gary: If this oke’s hand doesn’t stop sweating…
Hot chick: Moer hom, Gary. Moer hom!
August 29th, 2006 at 2:04 pm
Seth: Hey, big guy! I’m ‘Malcolm in the Middle’ star, Franie Muniz! Please be my friend, so people will stop making fun of me?
Gary: Not a chance, kid. *But I’m in room 402, if you’re interested…*
Hot chick: Even with my breasts, and Gary’s, the biggest boob here is still the one far left.
August 29th, 2006 at 4:21 pm
I enjoy both Jo’blog and 2oceansvibe and I just wanted to say, this little feud thing is actually kinda boring… get over it and get back to your normal selves – both blogs are great on their own!
August 29th, 2006 at 4:52 pm
Reading Seth’s article, then your response was kind of like watching a classic episode of Friends, then flicking over to Madam and Eve on SABC..
Then sticking the remote in your eye..
Come on okes, first climb into the same arena, BEFORE trying to compete with 2oceansvibe…
The first time I (and im sure a lot of other people) heard of joblog was from reading the ‘womble’ article, so the next time you talk about traffic, make sure that it’s thanking 2oceansvibe for the extra site traffic!
August 29th, 2006 at 5:03 pm
You have your moments.
But 2oceansvibe owns you kids.
August 29th, 2006 at 5:36 pm
Oh, crap. We got owned.
Geek.
August 29th, 2006 at 5:42 pm
Your 5 articles about traffic are as boring as hell. It’s about time someone in Joburg starts a blog worth reading.
“Oh wait, hasn’t it been done?”
“Yes, check out Joblog.”
“Actually don’t. It’s almost as repetitive as watching a taxi cut someone off. Ask them, they’re traffic experts.”
BTW, your little Elle cover is cute. I especially enjoy the Seether inpression on a women’s magazine. How ironic. Seether! On a women’s mag! Imagine that.
August 29th, 2006 at 5:49 pm
Coming from D’ave himself… I’m flattered.
But seriously- if you want geek, then look no further than your little Malcolm in the Middle dig earlier.
You come up with that all by yourself?
August 29th, 2006 at 6:06 pm
Chris, by five traffic post, I assume you mean two – counting not your strong point eh?
And had you bothered to read the first one you would have realised that the traffic refferance was only to intro a song by a punk band called The Vendettas aptly named “I hate the traffic”.
As you obviously haven’t taken the time to even glance at the site and are simply making comments based on Seth’s post, your feedback is pretty useless to us.
Thanks for popping in though…!
August 29th, 2006 at 7:15 pm
Reckon, 2oceansvibe is fun… seriously. Its not a blog at all if you are a Webhead its more like the National Enquirer with info that means little but entertain lots…On the otherhand Joblog is more actual and realist kind of like The Economist of blogs… useless info for a 15 year old (as 2OCEANS is) but actually quite fun if you are older… Like both, where as Joblog is good redwine 2Oceans is like a Varsity Fratboy party beer. You can enjoy both. Allthough the naked twins walking around some house in CT was totally pseudo……
August 29th, 2006 at 7:19 pm
Actually stuck me now that I am on an analogy rant…. 2oceans reminds of those glasses we use to buy in CURIO shops on the south coast with pictures of Girls in white bikinis but as the glasses condensed moisture the girls bikinis would vanish…. cool but in a weird kind of Frankensteeen way. Seth this aint a dig this a compliment
August 29th, 2006 at 7:34 pm
My captions for the competition
(ALL ARE THINKING BUBLES)
Thinboy : I wonder if the camera notices that my wrist is limp?
Bulkboy : What the…
Brownhaired girl : I might look like a hot chick but the only reason bulkboy is smiling is because he doesnt know whats poking around Hisanus.
August 29th, 2006 at 9:10 pm
Be thankful for gettin that extra publicity for your site, until 2oceansvibe mentioned this site, I had no clue what this site was. Lets be honest, 2oceansvibe isn’t a blog, its an establishment with a large family…you will never compete
August 29th, 2006 at 9:41 pm
You haven’t met our families…
August 29th, 2006 at 9:59 pm
I’ve been laughing non-stop at both posts, but Seth wins this one because his was funnier by a long shot. That doesn’t mean there’s no room for more contests in future! A little competition is good for you guys.
August 30th, 2006 at 11:42 am
The fact that 2oceans talks about his readers as his children is really funny, because if i was one of his readers i would be really insulted (and the only reason i went on to his blog was to see what he said about joblog). The other thing that worries me is a an adult man raving about a chritina aguilera cd.But honestley if anyone spoke about me pulling on his shirt like one of his little toddlers
I would rip out his eyes and skull #$%^ him.joblog might have been around shorter time then 2oceans but least it treats its readers as adults and not 5 year olds

Don/Rich
Does your WordPress comment page remember commentators by static IP?
Large corporates like banks use *one proxy IP* for all external web access for all employees. I just got all the info for another person pre-populated in the comment boxes
August 30th, 2006 at 1:18 pm
Daedalus: Ya’know, that’s funny. But wouldn’t that data be stored on your computer as cookie? Not on our server waiting to be sent to the right IP?
August 30th, 2006 at 1:19 pm
Oi Seth, thanks for the traffic
August 30th, 2006 at 1:30 pm
../Ant – by default, yes, I also use WordPress on my blog – but never encountered this LOL
August 30th, 2006 at 2:22 pm
I love how people keep saying, “I had never heard of your blog before 2OceansVibe mentioned…”.
Sheesh. It’s not our fault that some of you folk lead such sheltered lives. Life outside the Cape?
Sorry for you, Seth, but I think some of your readers may still be struggling with that whole ‘Entarnet’ thing. It’s really big guys! There are all sorts of ‘sites’ out there! A few f which may still be new to you! Bodacious!
I have no problem admitting that I’m glad that they are your readers.
And to whoever called me a geek? Dammit…
August 30th, 2006 at 2:36 pm
Bwhahaha…! D’ave, things are a bit slow in the Cape, but, they get there in the end
August 30th, 2006 at 3:00 pm
Wombles… man that is funny. You guys actually do look like them!
Remember… before you diss Cape Town and fellow Capetonians, who are the ones that come flocking to our territory in season.
As for 2Oceansvibe, Sorry to say, it kicks your ass by a long shot.
I didnt even laugh out loud once with one of your write ups. THAT says it all.
See you guys in season(in your tight vests)
August 30th, 2006 at 3:09 pm
ouch!
August 30th, 2006 at 3:16 pm
And notice how we all leave again? It’s not Cape Town itself that most non-Capetonians have a problem with, mate.
Your territory? Sorry, dude. I thought we shared this country.
August 30th, 2006 at 3:33 pm
True D’ave … well said!
I love the Cape, though I am all JHB-DNA.
August 30th, 2006 at 5:40 pm
I’m born ‘n bred CT, now live in JHB.
As far as I’m concerned, you’re ALL geeks.
Seth is funny, but let’s face it, he’s a w@nker. C’mon Capetonians, search your souls, you know this to be true. Would you choose Seth to be the ambassador for the Soul/Attitude of Cape Town? HELLLLL NO! And the “children” and “angels” thing is right irritating.
Dig the interactivity on Joblog, Seth would cry if someone posted something critical on his site.
Joblog is a more adult read, and I sincerely do appreciate not having to hear about Paris/Britters/A. N. Other Bimbo ad nauseam (what is up this boy’s obsession?) but you okes take yourselves waaaayyy too seriously. Easy marks. I call it “Seaboard Envy”.
And Seth is funny. Sometimes. But he looks waaay too much Like Gareth Cliff to be making GC jokes.
August 30th, 2006 at 5:46 pm
Incidentally, my CT buddies and I call December the Lemming Run…
Its where thousands of Joburgers run down to Cape Town and throw themselves into the sea…
August 30th, 2006 at 6:14 pm
Seth: Fuck!! a seagull just flew up my ass
Gary: thats nothing dude, i have a seal up mine
August 30th, 2006 at 7:57 pm
I see we have some people participating in some healthy debate. That’s great, guys!
Whilst both sides have had some pearlers, I think we all need to stop and focus on Gray’s little footnote at the end of his rant earlier:
“See you guys in season(in your tight vests)”
in
your
tight
vests
Very good, Gray.
You have always been one of our best.

Spacedman Spiff,
Don’t live to geek, geek to live
August 31st, 2006 at 10:06 am
Yeah, you got me, I’m a geek myself. I geek, therefore I am…
August 31st, 2006 at 11:27 am
Its so great to know that no matter how old we get, a little part of the prep school playground lives on our hearts.
Its just all a tad geeky though, isn’t it?
August 31st, 2006 at 11:33 am
Gray im from capetown, so i have to wonder wich of the beaches are you going to to see men in tight shorts and to stick up for a man who calls you one of his angels makes me wonder even more what beach you hanging at bru. Where on that “Elle” blog did you see a tight t-shirt. Oh and Seth if Gray is one of your best for smart assed comments no wonder you havent had an interview yet. But if you want i could phone one of the free newspapers for you like the tatler.
August 31st, 2006 at 6:53 pm
I love good fight. Bicker on brothers.
August 31st, 2006 at 7:14 pm
Fact is I dont think anybody has got anything against 2oceans, and CapeTown is an okay place… (just because Durbs which IS MUCH MORE exotic) finally managed to get rid of its unwanted visitors by supporting cape town. I think its kind of more a seth thing… Since I can post on 2oceans I just want to ask Seth, where you in Wynberg, Rondebosch, Bishops or which school were you in? A school speaks volumes and can with out a doubt give lots of background information on a person… Erich a la Dr Ruth
August 31st, 2006 at 8:37 pm
Alan, Gray: Sorry guys, we realise our brand of humour isn’t for everyone, it’s a bit more of a thinking man’s laugh. We’re just not selling the whole slap stick “pie in your face/womble comment without humourous justification” style that you guys are in to.
Don’t worry though, there’s a lot of that out there, I can reccommend a site for you, or perhaps a Jim Carey movie…!
