lol.

I once got a big speeding fine that I couldn't afford to pay, and ended up going to court to try and see if I could get an extension.

The guy before me was asked by the magistrate if he was contesting the fine, and he said that he wasn't. The magistrate then asked him why he hadn't paid the fine, and he told the magistrate that he didn't have the money.
The magistrate did a very classy 'If the state pays for your accomodation for the enxt 3 months, would that help you find the money to pay the fine?'

The poor guy went ashen, and promised the magistrate that he had actually brought the money with him, and would pay atraight away...

Of course this left me with my sphincter acting like the sphincter of a fish-eagle just before it pops a power dive, and I absolutely didn't have the money to pay the fine. Fortunately, when my case came up, and they called the cop that had issued the fine, he wasn't in court. The happy result was that my fine was dropped, and the cop was charged with Contempt of Court.

On the other hand imagine the guy is innocent.

Many of us have employees who are from rural areas but live in Joburg for work. Everytime they travel home, the taxi fare almost cripples them (e.g. Joburg-Tzaneen is about R175).
