Talk about starting at the tail end. When your beloved dog of ten years turns around and tears rips a two year old too shreads, please explain. Remember you can always replace a dog,( I have a bullmastiff and 4 cats) but you can't replace a child. If my dog showed any signs of threatening my children, I would not hesitate to put him down. Giving a dangerous animal to another family, is careless and stupid,that would just put someone elses life in danger. Pam keep up the great work. What a terribble experience, we don't have a problem with our 3 dogs and just wanted her advice about our new dog that whe have since one week from the Animal Welfare. We have been insulted in so many ways and after two hours and paying 1700,- rand whe sent her home!!! The most terrible dog whisperer you can imagine. We feel devastated and ripped off!!!!!!! She told me my dog hates me and my voice will activate the hunting instincts and he will kill me! She said that I should not own a bullterrier (although I grew up with 3 of them as a child and have great memories of them) she claimed they are dangerous and will attack children, unless I follow her instructions. Well all I can say is when I stopped following her instructions and got a proper dog whisperer in named Chris, everything changed my dog is so much happier and friendlier he listens to me, doesn't jump on people, walks nicely on a lead and doesn't show any aggression to other dogs. I took my dog to a restaurant the other and he was sitting licking a poodle and playing with her so nicely! He has never showed any aggression towards people, and is the most loving dog I have ever met. The best part is chris costed me R400 for 2 hours where Pam costed me R1700 for about the same time with zero results! I also run a rescue program for working dogs. Having dealt with many probelm dogs, it is in my opinion that you should get more than one opinion. There is now a governing body for animal behaviourists called "South Africal Board of Companion Animal Professionals". You should use someone who is affiliated to that body, also speak to a dog trainer in your area and very importantly consult your vet. You should do all this before just destroying you pet. There is something all dogs owners must remember, if you are going to own a dog it is like keep a loaded gun. That dog could react at anytime for any reason. Even the most placid dog can bite. Be humane and don't put your dog in the situation were it can bite or behave badly. I stress, all puppies must be socialised and attend puppy training, and when they are older at least get the "Canine Good Citizen" qualification for your dog. If you require a dog training school contact the "Kennel Union of South Afica" and they will assist you in finding one in your area.
