An Mweb blogger admitted to wanking his 21-year old disabled son off, ‘cos “he knew his son had the same sexual needs as other teenagers during puberty”.
Seriously.
In other Mweb-related news, a load of their bloggers are getting bullied and ripped-off in their comments and stuff. The blogspace editor, correctly, kindly informed them that he and his team are not there to babysit anyone, and they should sort their own shit out (in not so few words).

I don’t have any reason to think that this will actually make a difference. Pessimistic, maybe, so prove me wrong.
Got mailed this today:

I’d like to see if, firstly, there are more cars on the road with the lights switched on, and secondly, if it will make a difference.
Make people aware? For sure. But only the people that have seen or heard about this initiative, and they’re not really the people doing the crimes are they? Do you think criminals will have a change of heart or conscience when they see a car with the lights on during the day? Methinks not.
They tried the ’switch your lights on to promote road safety’ a few years ago. Many people had their lights on, but did it reduce the number of road accidents or deaths? No really, I’m asking.
Good for STAND for actually putting something out there and making people aware, I just hope it helps, ‘cos all the news of late is really just bad news.

When at home, I prefer hard-wired iPod car solutions like the Dension Ice Link (first prize) or the Harman Kardon Drive+Play (a not-quite-there second prize). However when traveling I rely on an FM transmitted solution, such as Griffin’s iTrip.
To date though, I’ve not found a good list of frequencies for SA, so I invariably farm around when I get to a place until I find one that works. Here’s my plan, either mail me or comment your fav frequencies and the area you’re in, and ‘ll update the list. No place is too obscure, and if you think your freq is better than that listed, let me know.
Jo’burg: 88.2
Cape Town: 88.8
Good listening…!

So the old adage is true, it’s not what you know…
If you’re an MTN subscriber, and you need any kind of tech support (I needed help with my HSDPA modem), call 1555, and when you get through, ask to speak to Given Sidze (he assures me that you can do this). I’m not lying when I tell you that this guy is the Rock God of the tech support world (honorary mention must go to Mpho Maja too).
What an absolute pleasure this guy was to deal with, kept me in the loop, was extremely patient, and most of all knew his shit. He even explained to me how I could check and fix the problem next time.
Well played…!

I really hate it when you ask people whether or not they want to have kids, and they reply with one of these two platitudes:
- “Oh, I’d never want to bring a child into the world today.”
- “Oh, I won’t raise a child in this bloody country.”
Blah blah blah. Take your tired cliches elsewhere.
Then I read today’s (just today’s) IOL feed:
- Two boys raped an brutally assaulted
- Search for missing Pretoria girl continues
- Four boys killed in family murder/suicide
- 20-month-old baby locked inside a scorching hot car
- Newborn baby kidnapped
- Pool deaths prompt by-laws (you mean there are none already?)
It really fucking sucks!

Still, I’ll take my chances.
It’s well worth it…!

“There’s nothing quite like a fart straight after a poo. It’s nature’s way of telling you you’ve pretty much emptied the tank.”
Clever guy that Dan.

I must be out of the ’send-whatever-silly-pass-a-long-email-I-get’ loop, (although sometimes I wonder), but I haven’t (yet) received the hoax email about ex-pres Nelson Mandela suffering a heart attack. You?
From ex-pres to current, uncle Thabo is building a wall estimated at R90m around his official house in Pretoria.
“The contractors who are building the wall, have been sworn to secrecy and would not talk about it. … It was reliably learnt that the wall is being imported from overseas.” – News24
My favourite: “We cannot overcome that which is ugly and objectionable in the land and taste the joy of freedom if our community lives in fear, locked up behind high walls and barbed wire,” Mbeki in his TV interview about crime not really being out of control last month.
Mukoni Ratshitanga, spokesperson for the presidency, said they’ll issue a statement on Tuesday, which I hope is today, and not next Tuesday. Here’s holding thumbs!
Thing is, who builds a house for R90m, never mind the surrounding wall. What? Is he bringing it from Germany? Crazy.

It seems that, very much to my disappointment, we don’t attract to some youngsters of the world, this one in particular. Dude, it’s very clear. There are 2 blogs created every second. If you don’t like what we write:
Just. Don’t. Read it.
There are plenty more out there.
We post about what we like, not necessarily what you like. Our readers, I’m guessing, tend to enjoy what we have to say, that’s why we have interactive conversations in our comments sections. The fact that you’ve read all the way back from Rich…!’s ice cream post (December) must say a little something about keeping readers going, eh?

Spotted this on the road the other day. Since when did KFC take over from Coke for school sign sponsorships?

Perhaps you weren’t woken with a big cup of Earl Grey Tea, or maybe ushered to your candlelit dining room for an awesome breakfast by a waitress wearing what can only be described as an OMG outfit. You might not have received any nsfw, (or public for that matter), Valentines items.
I did.
That’s why I really dig today. Happy Valentine’s Day everyone.

Sheesh, has it been that long already? The SA Blog Awards are upon us again. Go and nominate your favourite blogs, posts and stuff, and when all the best are chosen, we’ll all get to vote for the ultimate fighting champions best blog in that respective category.
I searched and searched for the ‘Bloggers with the best hairstyles’ category, but couldn’t find it.
Oh well, there’s always next year!

Safa faces a measly R20 000 fine for not organising and issuing a work permit to new Bafana Bafana coach Carlos Parreira.
12/02/07
Parreira is warned that he would be arrested if he turns up for any matches because he would be working without a permit.
12/02/07 – Later that day
Parreira gets a work permit.
.
12/02/07 – Later still
Parreira gets stuck in and organises a friendly game before their African Nations Cup qualifier.
Wow.
Now if they could only do it that quickly for all the Zim and Nigerian immigrants we’d all be happy, eh?

I heard it on the radio yesterday, but Leechi beat me to the post.

Well done for winning the Grammy!

I don’t say this much, but this is seriously on of those you really, really don’t want to miss this events. Fuzi rock my world in a big way, and it’s going to be a killer launch.

Sadly, I’m on a plane that night, but here’s my suggestion, forget the formal geek dinners, they rock and all, but what’s wrong with just a bunch of bloggers having a laugh at a club? Drop us a comment if you think you’ll make it.
Skank it up, yo…!

Mike, Rafiq, and Gregor have collaborated to create a great fun homegrown (mm)meme using Apple’s Photo Booth application.

It’s fun, it’s easy, it’s pretty damn silly. Go check it out, or better still, submit your own – It requires a mac, if you don’t have one yet… haha, sorry for you…!

“A Pretoria East sales rep made a startling discovery when he found hundreds of keys stashed in a box outside his home.”
That’s all good and well, but the most significant thing about this find is that each key had a label to a security complex. House keys, safe keys, electric gate remotes, all labeled for easy access for an easy browse through for any criminal.
Scary.
Thanks to Wezzo for the lead.

For those of you who didn’t keep your channels on MNet last night after the Scarlicious 8pm movie, ‘The Island‘, you missed something special.
The new show ‘Dexter‘ ran it’s pilot episode and, even after all the hype Rich and I saw in New York last year, it rocked. I never thought this would hit our screens, and almost forgot about it (I never saw an ad once). Plot synopsis: Sociopath with a mission. Kills people. Works for Miami Forensics. Kills people. Pretty funny.
This may be more my type of series, but the rest of you should investigate your sick side and check it out. On every Sunday after the movie (or you can download the first 12 episodes from the States). And, it’s tag line is just brilliant. Like Dex.
