It’s gotta be some kinda record…

On Saturday at 13h00 I picked up my new car. By Sunday at 18h00, I’d hit a curb and punctured both left tyres. It’s currently sleeping at the Sasol on Witkoppen if you fancy saying, “hi”. How fucking much does that suck?
I gotta say, I was really loathe to buy a Lexus, and nearly cancelled the test drive on Friday, but after testing just about every other car on the road I figured what the hell, and shit, I’m glad I did. This is by far the nicest car I’ve ever driven (with the exception of the DB 9 Mike brought around). It has every toy imaginable, and the service has rocked too.
For example, when I chatted to the kick-ass sales guy, Riccardo, tonight about the puncture, he called me back within two minutes to see if he could collect me and take me home (I’d already bought the car, he had nothing to gain in the short term). Oh, and when I went to pair my phone, he’d pre-named my car “Capitalist Punk”, something he’d picked up from my email signature.
Lastly, when I got home with my new wheels, there were three wrapped presents hidden in the boot; a box of chocs, a rad coffee-table book, and this hand-picked-just-for-me gift:

Made my fucking day that did, wicked-cool touch. I’m thinking this one may just be a keeper…!

Hey slick toy….Well done for putting it through it’s paces immediately and showing it who’s king! So next time it spies a curb it will know that they are not to be associated with.

It’s amazing how much difference the small things make to your experience – and it really doesn’t take much effort.
Lexus deserve to make many more sales!

I’ve heard good things about the Lexuses (or is that Lexi? I can never know how to pluralise cars). From everything I’ve heard they are by far the best Japmerican cars out there.
Not exactly sexy though… I’m perfectly willing to change my mind though, so I’ll make you a deal. The very first photo I see of a rock / punk star falling out of it puking, or driving it into a hotel pool, I’ll call it sexy!

What happened to the batmobile?

I don’t own a Lexus, but I drive my brother’s is200 on a daily basis.
I’m now a Lexus fan forever.
It’s really a fantastic car

Was the CLS written off?

A few questions:
1. Is your name rich, or does it hint at your social status?
2. Does the car really close it’s own doors and start itself?
3. What do you do for a living?
I drive an older model Lexus IS200, and I love it.
4. Who hosts your blog? Very nice format.

5. Are you going to answer questions 1-4?

6. Were you at the Baron on Main earlier today? Didn’t think so. There wasn’t ONE good looking guy there. There was a gorgeous silver Lexus in the car park (besides mine)

1. It’s my name, but I like to think that it was a self-fulfilling prophecy on my parent’s side
2. Well, technically it only closes the doors shut if you leave it slightly ajar when you close it yourself, and you need to push a button to start the car (oh, the crosses we have to bear). The boot closes itself when you push a button though.
3. I own a presentation company called Missing Link (.co.za). I occasionally do some talks too. The IS rocks, I can see why you’d love it (you too Fatima).
4. WebAfrica hosts us, but you can thank our ../Ant for the layout and design .
5. Yup!
6. Alas no, I’m currently somewhere between Malaysia and Singapore on board the good ship SuperStar Gemini, thanks for the compliment though. I guess my car could have been there though, we have a car-sitter. Mine’s pearl white though, the pic above was the best I could find with a quick google search.
Lads, The CLS wasn’t written off, I just traded it in when I got it back, I was never really that happy with it. It drove well and was a nice shape but is no competition at all to the Lexus. It amazes me in retrospect how much people will pay for badge value…!
