“Really officer, the tree just jumped out in front of me!”
Posted by Rich...! under Uncategorized on May 20 2007 at 9:42 AMI spotted this in Cape Town the other day (where else?). It took me a few seconds to register the absurdity of it all. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for saving the tree, but what’s with the gimpy little sliver of road on the tree’s left? I mean really, why bother?

Ah, you gotta love the Mother City, my only guess is that the work was done on a Friday afternoon…!

Shuwa …Its a Cape Town thing… trees and moun – ten’s take priority, over man made things like roads… used to be one near my house in Rondebosh except they managed to get that one right in the centre of the road..

Rich, you got conned. It’s a mushroom tree. They pop up overnight – particularly if there’s lightnin’. Now if you’d been there just a few hours earlier, it woulda been asphalt as usual.

There’s an entire avenue of them outside the Nelson’s Eye restaurant. Stops crappy parallel parkers from reversing into your car and absorbs carbon dioxide, just look out for the squirrel shit.
