SAA: Stealing voyager miles (and time)!
Posted by Rich...! under Uncategorized on October 6 2007 at 8:37 PMSo, this has happened 3 out of my last 6 flights on SAA. I head up to the check-in counter and hand them my drivers license and Voyager card. A minute or so later they give me my boarding pass, noticeably absent the SILV marking.

Me: Have you included my Voyager number?
SAA: Yes
Me: Oh, so why then does my silver Voyager status not show on my boarding pass, doesn’t this happen automatically when you put in my number?
SAA: Ah, sorry, I’ll fix it for you.
In another case, my wife faxed them proof that we flew to Singapore, but when she got her statement, nothing had been added, and don’t even bother try holding on their call centre (or if you do, I suggest a razor and toothbrush).
Here’s my question, have I just been unlucky, or do SAA tell their staff deliberately to “forget” to add miles? After all, it saves them a bomb. It would be easy to do as very few people actually check, and unless you have a Voyager status on your pass, there really is no way of knowing until you login to the site – and who does that regularly?
As for the time, this week SAA stole 5 hours from me, 4 on Monday, nearly causing me to miss the birth of my daughter, and 1 on Friday, causing me to miss a meeting.
The reason for both of these is simple:
No accountability…!

So why fly them?

It gets worse, they then overweight your baggage, and charge you for it when you aren’t overweight…

Rich, this stuff happens to me ALL THE &%$£ing TIME with BA. Its obviously endemic with national carriers who have zero accountability and hardly care about their customers, even the loyal ones.
My worst is when I know the number has been captured but the flight never appears on my statement. The difficulty involved in getting the miles credited is simply not worth the effort.
According to BA I walked back to London from places like Hong Kong, Chicago, Moscow etc.

Whats up with this. My miles never post on SAA. I will definitely think twice about flying them in the future. For flights from the US the competitors may be more expensive but at least you get your miles. What also sucks is that SAA only give you 50% of the miles for a ticket that costs $1400.

Can I add miles online after a flight or do I really need to fax or phone them?

Received my statemenbt- a missing leg. Not sure if I swam or walked to dubai, but it shows i flew back with SAA.
Today I noticed that my flight to Ndola and return today have diffeent voyager numbers to my own- the lady says- it was in the sysytm- I show her my Voyager card and eventually she fixes the number for the journey.
How do fix the return journey? She would not
Stealing Voyager miles- seems like I am not the only robbed one.

Gave my boarding passes from my trip to Thailand in 2007 at the Whk office to load onto my voyager miles. Has never ever been entered, but was told continously that it was done…so have lost a lot of miles here…Unfortunately could not check as my old email address had expired. Have forwarded new email address and asked for my pin to be reset. Todate have had no response. Juanita at Whk office assisted with my latest voyager miles. Thank you…nice to have someone who you can depend on and trust.
