One night in Pretoria

Last night, myself and a bunch of the Links headed off to watch CT based post punk/metal band, The Doppler Effect, in Cafe Arc. Okay so a big part of the reason that the guys went was to watch fellow Link, Paul, playing with his band, Andre van der Walt. Either way, the show kicked ass.
Chaos Theory kicked off, and despite the FOH engineer taking quite a while to find his mojo, the guys showed that they have a shit-tonne going for them (again, just wish that I could actually have heard the vocals).
Then came The Doppler Effect, man-a-fucking-live, what a set. Crazy-ass energy on stage and even the relatively dull metal (punk kids rock) crowd seemed to go off. I particularly enjoyed their live version of Bittersweet heart, as well as their second encore (the crowd insisted), Europe’s, The final countdown – dude! Insane. Be sure to check them out if you can, or order their EP here.
Lastly, it was Paul’s band. Guitar, bass, vocals, and samples. No drums, no English – and heavy as fuck. The guys saw a killer show, the girls saw Paul. I heard one say, “That is without a doubt the sexiest man alive” and a second said, “I want to orgasm just watching him.”
That’s it then, I’m learning guitar.
From their it was business as usual, a near bar brawl with farm types, girls kissing eachother, and a load of laughter. Good times.
Seeing as we’re talking music, here’s wee a bonus for you:
All that remains may not be local, but they are definitely bitchin…!
