Yesterday armed gunmen walked into the office and stole our laptops, cameras and phones. When I wanted to get a SIM replacement, Vodacom’s system was down. Then half of Jo’burg was without power until the evening, so I had to wait ’til this morning to get my own number back.
Fuckers. All of them.

That really sucks. At least on the plus side those cock-skins didn’t shoot anyone for the fuck of it. Could easily have happened. Thank God it didn;t.
I hope you guys can just move on without the pent up anger and frustration. As for the power cuts – I wont make you more pissed off by dwelling on that…

The good news is you all got out of it with minor physical damage, but it really was a shite thing to happen. I dunno what’s happening to my home country – there’s very little good news coming out of SA nowadays & I’m getting closer & closer to thinking it’s really time to sell up. *sigh*

Sorry guys. Mine was (safely) liberated while I was sleeping on Mon morning. Guy walked into my room, past 2 big dogs. Likewise for Jarred’s crew at http://www.futurespace.co.za/ on Saturday – except that nearly went badly pear-shaped.
But we’ve got to move on, and in that spirit here’re some thoughts and suggestions for those that still have laptops and phones and haven’t backed up yet. Do it now. Mac users, get Carbon Copy Cloner (and an external drive). Failing that, mail important stuff to Gmail account. Cellphone backup? Visit http://www.mobical.net and see if your phone is compatible. Both are free services.
The other thing is, be wary of leaving too much on your laptop that can be used for identity theft.

those shitbirds @ vodacum sold me a 5gig cap for my internet usage as i tried their ‘use ur phone as a modem’ bullshit!Now i have over 4gig left to use in a few days as VODACUM has such a shitty server,it loses connexion every 20mins or so,resulting in me losing money as even stuff of 8meg wnt download completely!When i complained,A mr. casim phoned me with a nasty attitude!No one at vodacom gives a fuck except for their simplistic SMS customers!
